Austin Family Brunch: A Wildfire Benefit
Posted by Tiziana on September 10, 2011
What was planned as a laid back event to hang out and get to know our neighbors better has turned into an event to help our neighbors who are in need due to the devastating wildfires that are taking place in Central Texas. The reports coming in show close to 1500 houses in the Bastrop and Greater Austin area have burned down due to wildfires that are still not fully contained. Let’s pool our resources to help these families and the local charities that are helping them to make it through this difficult time.
Join the women from LiveMom, Free Fun in Austin, A Family Village and Mama on the Verge in the backyard of Joe’s Place, near UT’s East Campus for an Austin Family Brunch. Bring the entire family to enjoy brunch with live music by some of Austin’s best local musicians on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 10:00am- 2:00pm. We’ve got a lineup that is sure to please every member of your family!
10:30 a.m. Shawn Madden http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bhzegCvggE
11:15 a.m. Staci Gray http://www.stacigraymusic.com/
12:30 p.m. Tanya & the Rusty Tears http://www.tanyawinch.com/
- The event is free, but we are asking for a suggested donation of $20 per family which will all be donated to the American Red Cross of Central Texas. Staci Gray will have her CD on sale and is giving $5 for each sale to the American Red Cross of Central Texas as well.
- We are also collecting gift cards to be given to the affected families. Some suggestions: HEB, Walmart, Target.
- Bring books! Priscilla, one of our local blogger friends, is organizing a book driveand will be collecting at the brunch. She is requesting books that appeal to all readers.
- Come camera ready! For a $10 donation, you and your family can have a quickie family portrait made. Sweet Life Family Photography will be on-hand to take professional pictures of you, your kids, or the whole family with the images emailed directly to you! Proceeds will be split 50/50 between the American Red Cross (earmarked for Wild Fire Relief) and the Texas Wildfire Relief- a firefighter benefit group. Thanks to Evin from Food Good, Laundry Bad for setting this up!
Brunch items and sandwiches for the adults will be available for under $10. Kids’ plates will also be available and will range in price from $2.75 to $3.50 with specials on Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s.
We hope to see you there!
